Proud Sponsors of the Southern Turf Managers Website
Southern Turf Managers Association
|
The above Association is controlled by practicing golf superintendents and greenkeepers for the benefit of all golf clubs in Otago and Southland. It would be fitting and of advantage for all clubs and their staff were to be members as we hold at least 3 Field days each year around the region and every 3-4 years hold a 3 day Seminar with at least one over seas speaker.
The reasons for the Association is to foster relationships with one and other so as to help when one has problems whether it be greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers drainage trees machinery or any thing which fits in to our surroundings at all.
Over the years we have helped out many clubs to solve problems, created numerous and many great relations between greens staff and these carry on even when people have retired and in cases where people leave the industry. The Association is and always has been funded by our members paying membership fees, running raffles, profits from holding national conferences and seminars which we are proud of.
The original Association was started by a group of Greenkeepers both metropolitan and central Otago at a meeting at Mr John Dickson s house 64 Lyn street Dunedin in 1967.
At this time it was known as Otago Golf Greenkeepers Association. In 1982 the name was changed to Otago Golf Superintendents and Greenkeepers Association.
In 2007 the name changed again to Southern Turf Managers Association. This will allow any persons working in Turf related areas to become members. The Association has a close relationship with trade related industries from whom we rely on for sponsorship toward field days, seminars, national conferences and golf tournaments which we hold that is very important to us.
